How we got the density
- Density is the one figure on this page that is calculated rather than looked up: population ÷ area.
- 129.7 million people = 129,700,000 people. Divided by 1,104,300 km²: 117.45 people per km², which rounds to 117.
Check it backwards
117 × 1,104,300 km² ≈ 129,644,820 people — back to the population, apart from the rounding of the density to a whole number.
