pH Calculator
Turn a hydrogen-ion concentration into a pH, or a pH back into a concentration.
Example — pH of a 0.001 mol/L acidpH = 3
How we got it — the example, step by step
- pH is defined as −log₁₀ of the hydrogen-ion concentration.
- pH = −log₁₀(0.001) = 3.
Check it backwards
Backwards: 10^(−3) = 0.001 mol/L — the concentration we started with.
Questions people also ask
Is this for strong or weak acids?
This tool converts between pH and concentration only. For a strong acid that fully dissociates, the concentration of the acid is the [H+]. Weak acids need an equilibrium (Ka) calculation, which this tool does not pretend to do.
