Factor Calculator
Type a whole number or a quadratic. You get its factors and the divisions that found them.
Example — Factor 360360 = 2^3 × 3^2 × 5
How we got it — the example, step by step
- Divide by the smallest prime that fits, and keep going: 360 ÷ 2 = 180, ÷ 2 = 90, ÷ 2 = 45.
- 45 ÷ 3 = 15, ÷ 3 = 5. Five is prime, so stop.
- Collect the primes: 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 5 = 2^3 × 3^2 × 5.
Check it backwards
2^3 × 3^2 × 5 = 8 × 9 × 5 = 360. Back where we started.
Questions people also ask
Can it factor polynomials?
Quadratics in x, yes — it finds the roots and writes the factors from them. Higher-degree polynomials are not in yet.
Does it list all divisors too?
For whole numbers, yes — the check line lists every divisor of the number, not just the prime factors.
