How we got the density
- Density is the one figure on this page that is calculated rather than looked up: population ÷ area.
- 216.4 million people = 216,400,000 people. Divided by 8,515,767 km²: 25.41 people per km², which rounds to 25.
Check it backwards
25 × 8,515,767 km² ≈ 216,300,482 people — back to the population, apart from the rounding of the density to a whole number.
